"As a person with hearing loss, I often find lectures, plays, and PA system announcements indecipherable. But who else notices? Unlike someone visibly left outside because of wheelchair inaccessibility - which would leave others appalled - inaccessibility due to hearing loss is invisible and thus often unremedied."

There are about 36 MILLION Americans with hearing loss - Early treatment is important for mental and physical health

Product Description

Large area Hearing Loop System.......

Priced below FM or infrared systems, the Satellite III is a cost-effective hearing assistance system that is ideal for churches, schools, meeting rooms, theaters, libraries and more.

The Satellite III system is the big brother to the Microloop III and is designed to interface with existing public address systems for larger areas.  The Satellite III can provide coverage of up to 300-325 lineal feet around the perimeter of a room, depending on the width.  For larger areas, multiple Satellite III amplifiers can be linked with each amplifier not covering more than 300-325 lineal feet.  Alternatively, two Satellite III amplifiers can be bridged, enabling power for a loop perimeter of up to 500 feet.

Components included with the Satellite III system:

  • One Satellite III loop amplifier with built-in 2-space rack mount
  • One 500 foot spool of 14 gauge loop wire - specity white or black
  • One Induction Loop Receiver with headphone and LED signal display
  • One phono plug patch cord
  • One wall mountable sign
  • Instructions

The Satellite III system is designed to be free standing or rack mounted using its built-in 2-space rack mount.  It is necessary to allow at least one rack space above and below the amplifier to permit adequate air circulation and prevent overheating.

The Satellite III may be interfaced with any audio line level signal available from the sound system mixer/mixer-amplifier.  Appropriate outputs are usually identified as "line" or "auxiliary output".  Use of the Satellite III amplifier's unbalanced phono input jack is recommended for most installations where the sound system signal feed is short (less than 5 feet).  If the signal feed is longer, the balanced input should be used to minimize noise.

A 500 foot spool of 14 gauge single conductor stranded wire is included with the Satellite III system.  The actual perimeter of the area to be looped should not exceed 325 feet per loop system unless a dual amplifier bridge system is used.  It is recommended that the width of the loop not exceed 25-30'.   The total 14 gauge run of a single loop amplifier plus lead-in should be at least 300 feet to present the proper minimum load to the amplifier.  If longer lead-in wire is needed, it should be 10 gauge to minimize signal losses.

When looping smaller areas, multiple series loop runs must be installed, for example, two turns around a 150 foot perimeter area.  A two turn series loop will result in a 3 dB boost in the signal strenth.  Please note:  Installing a "two turn series loop" means running the loop wire once around, and then continuing around the perimeter one more time, creating a double loop.

Please contact us to help determine the correct installation of this system to make sure it will work properly.  We can also provide important installation conditions and recommendations.
